Becoming stronger while helping others

A few weeks ago, I met a young girl at a fundraising event. She and her older sister had taken up the World Challenge to go to Borneo/Malaysia at the end of 2020.
Her parents were there giving support and help. Dad was 'sausage sizzling' as only a dad can and Mum was encouraging people to buy. The young entrepreneur was manning the till.
An opportunity too good to miss
“What is The World Challenge?”
That was my question to her. I don't think she'd been asked that before and with some encouragement from the sidelines, she told me what they were going to do with the opportunity. She became more confident and excited as she talked.
“What are you going to do to raise funds for your adventure?”
Again, she was a bit stymied, but with prompts from her support team, she gave me a list.
Raffles, quiz nights, car washing....
I then told her who I was and my company and I offered to gift to her a couple of pieces of laser art that she and her sister could auction off to raise money for their challenge.
Up 'till then mum and dad had stayed in the background. Now they stepped forward. I showed a few photos of some of my art and we decided on a style. Knowing these were young girls - pub signs and coffee quotes weren't going to be appropriate. Her mum pointed at one piece and said - "Oh yes - that's you. You are always rolling your eyes."
My challenge
When I got home I Googled World Challenge. Wow! I had no idea that these opportunities were being offered to youngsters. What a fantastic opportunity to grow.
I had to rise to the challenge myself and create something fun.
I came up with a few designs and two weeks later I met the young girl and her mother at a coffee shop to give them the finished pieces with instructions that the one piece is for her mother - at a price of course. After all this is for fundraising.
With these pieces of art work I wish you and everyone travelling with you, all the best and I hope you have the greatest adventure of your lives and may you grow and take your experiences into the future.
